How do you know if a year is a leap year?
It is divisible by 4 but not by 100, or it is divisible by 400. 2000 was a leap year; 1900 was not.
Why do leap years exist?
A solar year is about 365.2422 days, so an extra day every 4 years (with three skipped every 400) keeps the calendar aligned.
